Indicative sketch of riverside area

Established in July 2008, Solum is a partnership between Network Rail and Kier Property, formed to attract private investment into the rail network.

Through our creative approach, we reimagine the way that railway land is used so that it can better serve the local community, whilst also providing much needed new homes. By unlocking the potential of surplus railway land, we generate revenue, which we reinvest straight back into improving stations and their surrounding environments. We also make a positive impact on the UK housing shortage by building new homes on brownfield land next to train stations.

To date, Solum has completed projects at Christchurch, Epsom, Walthamstow, Southwark and Haywards Heath. It also has secured planning permission for a major regeneration project at Twickenham, Kingswood and for a second phase at Walthamstow.

The Bishop’s Stortford Goods Yard is a brownfield town centre site that has been identified for homes for many years. The new plans are in line with the local masterplan for the site that was endorsed by East Herts District Council in October 2017.
